I didn't pay much attention on this poster when I first saw it in my office,because it's in Indonesian Bahasa,but the picture of the little boy certainly attracted my eyes.
After while,I started to notice the same poster at every conner of our school.So I stopped by and started to read.
It's pretty much information about WORLD HUNGER which we have all known since we were young,might from the taught of grown ups or the news on the TV.But at the moment I read it,I thought it's necessary and meaningful of me to share it with more people again,just so we can review something we already known and perhaps get some new thoughts about it.
So with some friends' help,let me translate it into English version first.
The Price of A Single Piece of Rice
Food crisis keep hitting around over the world.
Let's try to count on how much rice we might be wasting daily.
Currently,Indonesia population is around 250,000,000(because this poster is from Indonesia,so it's mainly about the conditions in Indonesia,which I sincerely think it's no much difference from the other countries in the world).
Let's say we have 3meals a day,and each person waste 1piece of rice during each meal,then sum up,there are 3pieces of rice be wasted by 250,000,000people in Indonesia. So the counting could be,3times 250,000,000,which is 750,000,000 pieces of rice be wasting by HUMAN BEINGS everyday.
(But think of this first,is it true we only waste one single piece of rice during our each meal??)
So here's the counting you might be interested to see,according to our recording,there're about 50,000pcs of rice each KG.
SO,750,000,000/50,000=15,000KG,which means,everyday people in Indonesia might be wasting 15tons of rice.
Let's make this example,if ten people's food requiring is 1kg per day, then each day,15,000kg times 10 people is 150,000,which is enough for150,000People to fill their hunger everyday.
IT MEANS,IN INDONESIA,EACH DAY THE WASTING OF RICE CAN BE FEED TO 150,000 people.
Let's say,the world population is 7million,and each day,for each person,we wastes 3pcs of rice,then it would be 420tons of rice be wasted,which can be feed to 4.200.000people in the world.
Fantastic,right??
And according to the data recording from FAOPBB,there're 40,000people in the world dying everyday for HUNGER.
So please remember,every piece of rice is precious,we would be really appreciate on behalf of our generations if none of us wastes any piece of rice in each meal,because not only for the WORLD HUNGER,but also for the countless farmers on the world who works so hard in their entire life for giving us food,it probably only be a single piece of rice,but who ever thought of how much effort and work they have been doing? How much sweat they have been dropping?
So I announce! Let's start to save each piece of our rice,because the hunger crisis is happening everywhere and anywhere every minute on the world.
WHILE YOU EAT YOUR MEAL,PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND,THERE ARE STILL WORLD HUNGER GOING ON AROUND YOU,NOT REALLY THAT FAR AS YOU MIGHT THINK.
Now,after reading it,what do you feel in your mind? Don't answer me so fast,take a moment,feel it deep in your heart,you might no need to give the answer to any other people,but I'm sure you already have your own answer in your heart.
Well,let's say no more,because we are all humans,we can understand the words treasure to what,we can understand how the others feel,we can understand what condition the others are under.
